We are extremely proud and excited to announce that Telstar, our brand new fire and rescue vehicle, was successfully launched at the recent Emergency Services Show (ESS) at the NEC in Birmingham. The vehicle was given an exceptionally and universally positive reception and we look forward to further sharing the innovative vehicle with our discerning professional clients.
The ESS takes place each year and is an industry-only event, welcoming delegates representing a wide range of sectors within the emergency services in the UK. As well as providing invaluable networking opportunities, the event also played host to a number of informative seminars, meetings and workshops on a variety of relevant topics.
Telstar is an acronym of Terberg Emergency Lifesaving Support Tactical Ancillary Rescue and the innovative vehicle is based on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis which weighs 5 tonnes and features an extended wheelbase. The Terberg collaborative body features an ambulance compartment to the rear which, kitted out to full specification, contains medical support, paramedic first-response equipment and essential self-loading stretchers.
At the centre of Telstar is the compartment where powerful, modern and effective fire fighting equipment is stored in readiness for immediate use. This equipment includes cutting equipment and breathing apparatus along with 500l of water and a 60m hose reel. The water is powered by a Hale HPX75 pump, ensuring total efficiency.
Telstar is designed to carry four crew members safely and comfortably. Other configurations are planned for the future in order to meet the unique individual requirements of different fire and rescue teams.
Alisdair Couper is our Managing Director and, commenting on Telstar, said: “We have developed a reputation for providing the emergency services with a one-stop shop for both fire vehicles and firefighting equipment”. He added that the vehicle would provide a “safe haven” for the emergency services, combining powerful fire fighting abilities with first co-response ambulance support and delivering the most effective response to emergency callouts which require both medical and fire fighting services.
“The new product line-up at ESS is testament to the ongoing development of our 2015 portfolio of products, with the continuous development of exciting, innovative new equipment for the industry,” added Alisdair.
