Terberg DTS UK Ltd based in Elland West Yorkshire secures new military vehicle and support contract worth in excess of £40million
Yorkshire based business Terberg DTS UK Ltd, which is part of the Dutch family owned Royal Terberg Group, has announced the award of a major new and exciting Military vehicle modification and support contract for the UK MOD. The contract which has started immediately, is the culmination of a very long and complex bidding process.
As the Prime Contractor for this substantial contract, Terberg DTS will work with Tasca Tankers in Wakefield, MAN Truck and Bus UK in Trafford Park Manchester, Titan Defence systems in France and RMMV (UK) based in Bristol to provide aircraft refuelling capability based on current military vehicles in service. Terberg DTS will refresh and expand the current fleet of MOD vehicles and will provide a substantial support contract going forward to enhance vehicle availability.
Project ARC (Aircraft Refuelling Capability) is a multi year contract that will supply the majority of future aircraft refuelling capability to UK Forces worldwide. The vehicles will be deployed to dispense aviation fuel to all aircraft types including helicopters, fast jets and large transport aircraft. This multi million pound investment by the UK MOD is deemed a Key Contract required to support Military operations both at home and abroad for the years ahead. This opportunity follows on from a number of other Military contracts that the Company has won over the years, helping to secure Terberg’s position as a major provider of specialist vehicles and equipment to the Defence environment.
Alisdair Couper MD at Terberg DTS said in his statement. “I am extremely proud of the immense effort that my team put in to win this complex long term contract. I am delighted that this contract will help secure jobs as well as bringing future jobs and investment to the North of England on both sides of the Pennines. Whilst Terberg DTS has established itself as key Defence Subcontractor we are delighted that we have been able to place work with other local companies in the North.”
In addition to the work undertaken on the refuelling vehicle fleet, Terberg DTS UK will also be responsible for providing the ongoing support needed when the vehicles are deployed and operated around the world.
Mark Pannett Air Commodities Delivery Team Leader said in his statement. “The Aircraft Refuelling Capability is a key worldwide Defence capability that will provide the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force with an affordable and compliant vehicle for many years to come. We have worked with Terberg on a number of very successful capability projects and look forward to further developing a strong working relationship well into the future. Its also great news that the project will help grow important supply chain, engineering and logistics jobs in the North of England”.
