Continuous staff development plays a very important role in the on-going future success of Terberg DTS and as Managing Director Alisdair Couper says, “In any business, the quality of your staff cannot be underestimated and, here at Terberg, we pay close attention to ensuring that all our staff are fully trained and undergo continuous personal development programmes.”
“Nine members of the Terberg DTS UK staff are in the process of achieving successful qualifications that will enable them to further their current roles within the organisation, and hopefully provide a springboard to future personal success” added Alisdair Couper.
An Increasing Number of Apprenticeships
The growing importance of apprenticeships is regularly making headline news in the media these days and at Terberg, the company has a number of staff who are going through their apprenticeships with the company.
Firstly, Terberg are pleased to welcome new recruit, Matthew Tatton onboard. Matthew joins us as an apprentice parts administrator at the Fire and Rescue Division, realising a long term ambition to work within the automotive industry. Matthew is following in the footsteps in a line of longer term employees such as Jordan Holdsworth. Jordan has now progressed to NVQ Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in HGV mechanics. Jordan, 18, joined Terberg from a local college in West Yorkshire, where Terberg, in conjunction with the College, interviewed and assessed candidates who have just completed their sixth form education. Jordan was the successful candidate picked from all the applicants for the NVQ qualification.
Also at Head Office in Halifax, Callum Norman has joined Terberg as a Workshop Trainee Fabrication Welder. Callum started his qualification at a local fabrication firm and recently joined Terberg who are now supporting him through his final stages of his training
Jake Adams, who works at the Terberg Fire and Rescue Division in Gloucestershire, is in his third and final year of a Modern Apprenticeship in HGV Mechanical Engineering.
Completing the quintet of apprenticeships is Liam Baines, who has just finished his Apprenticeship in Administration at Terberg DTS, after which he was offered a permanent contract with the company, with effect from June 2013.
A Degree of Success
At Terberg’s Halifax Head Office, Joe Akroyd (Hire Controller) and Nicola Marston (Service Contract Controller) are now in their fourth and final year of their BA Honours Degree in Business Studies and Management at the University of Huddersfield. Also undertaking the same degree, at the same university, are fellow employees Lee Parker (Service Contract Controller) and Neil Sheard (Parts Administrator), who are now in their third year of this degree course.
All four are enjoying their undergraduate courses, which give valuable, practical and strategic insights into the challenges of operating international business at all levels.
“It’s fair to say that people determine the success of any organisation and by ensuring our staff are the best they can be is top of our agenda. In today’s competitive environment, it is essential that we help staff realise their full true potential,” commented Alisdair Couper.
