The FLIR K1 Firefighting Thermal Imaging Camera is a handheld, rugged and essential infrared camera optimised for emergency firefighting situations. It has a 57° x 44° portrait field-of-view, allowing the user to see the entirety of the scene from top to bottom. This thermal imager can capture both IR radiometric and visual images. The FLIR K1 Firefighting Thermal Imaging Camera’s comprehensive thermal and visual imaging capabilities allows firefighters to complete quick 360° assessments of scenes through complete darkness and/or thick smoke. It allows emergency professionals to see structures, individuals and heat patterns that would not be visible to the naked eye. As such, professionals are able to gather a more comprehensive view and understanding of the scene allowing them to tackle the fire/ emergency more effectively.
The pistol-grip design allows the individual to maintain the line-of-sight, whilst FLIR K1’s integrated 300-lumens torch can be used to illuminate the scene. Furthermore, the FLIR K1 Firefighting Thermal Imaging Camera’s MSX® image enhancement function allows the operator to identify structures and surroundings more quickly. This function works by overlaying the digital image onto the thermal image, thereby increasing picture clarity and detail.
Evidence of the scene can be captured using the FLIR K1 Firefighting Thermal Imaging Camera’s Snapshot function. This FLIR camera can take both radiometric IR images and visual images; these are saved simultaneously to the camera’s large internal memory (capacity for 10 000 image sets).
As this infrared imager is designed to be carried into dangerous environments it has been constructed to ensure that it is compact, lightweight, water-resistant and rugged: the FLIR K1 Firefighting Thermal Imaging Camera has been drop tested from 2m (6ft) onto concrete. Its lightweight, pistol-shaped design makes it easy to carry and attach to firefighting equipment/ uniform.
In addition to physical longevity, the FLIR K1 Firefighting Thermal Imaging Camera has been designed to ensure it will remain operable for long periods without interruption. To this end, it includes an integrated battery that can power the unit for up to five and a half hours without charge.
