Terberg DTS UK Fire & Rescue are pleased to announce that Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service completed a joint procurement process to identify a new Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) to replace their current operational cameras. A specification was developed with key stakeholders across the services as well as input from other regional services.
Following a full procurement process, Suppliers were asked to tender against the specification and provided cameras that they felt met this. Submissions were made from, Scott, Bullard, Leader and FLIR.
The top camera in performance and cost was the FLIR K55 which was duly awarded the tender.
The cameras were assessed against the specification and scored accordingly. Hereford and Worcester FRS then hosted a joint evaluation practical day with Warwickshire FRS to test the cameras in a real fire setting across a range of conditions. Staff from Warwickshire FRS and Hereford and Worcester FRS including whole time and on-call crews carried out testing.
This resulted in 59 evaluations across the cameras providing a broad range of assessment with which to complete the tender evaluation process.
Terberg DTS UK Fire & Rescue are proud to supply the FLIR K55 along with other thermal imaging solutions from FLIR’s highly successful K Series. The FLIR K55 camera brings an array of features and benefits to the operator and provides a significant improvement in several areas:
– screen size

– recording functionality
– instant playback functionality
– multiple mode selection
– servicing and support costs and lifetime
